How much marketing is too much?
When you watch TV you see ads, when you surf the web you see ads, when you walk through the city you see ads… Wherever you go and whatever you do you are sorrounded with ads and there is no way you can avoid them. Unless you live under the surface with no electricity you must live your life with ads.
Marketing has developed into strong industry; companies are paying a lot of money so that the word about their product gets out to the public. Some products are being sold and they don’t worth anything, the best example of this is well known Coke, it sells only because you see million of ads with Coke on them and you just can’t avoid it, you let go and buy it.
I consider this kind of marketing to be overly aggressive and personally I don’t like companies that do such things but that doesn’t mean I don’t buy products who advertise themselves too much. Aggressive marketing yields results but I think that by doing word of mouth advertising companies are doing a better job because they will never be so many complaints about their products.
The worst thing that a company can do is to market their product through pop-ups, floating JavaScript windows and other ugly ways of advertising since I’m the first one to tell other people not to buy that product. Text links and good looking banners are very good and very efficient way of advertising so I don’t see why companies and individuals choose dirty tricks over legitimate ways of marketing.
I think that I’ve lost my point somewhere while typing this but some of you may get the message. (Hint: Don’t spam)
Thank you for your time.
