Marketing blog challenge – week three
Reading my previous post I’ve noticed that I didn’t post “Marketing blog challenge – week two” and I apologies for that. The best excuse that I could find for myself is the fact that there were no major updates to write about. To be honest nothing revolutionary happened yet but I thought it should be good to write an update on my Marketing Blog Challenge since I promised weekly updates.
Looking through top 1000 results in Google for the term marketing blog I’ve realized that David’s post about my marketing blog challenge reached the position number 182 while his homepage got up to position 386. Since David’s post about my marketing blog challenge has only a link from his homepage I am wondering what would happen if David gave me a homepage link with the anchor text “Marketing Blog”…. I guess I’m not that lucky to find out.
I also noticed that there are sites that don’t deserve to be in top 1000 but they are, mostly because they are old and not because they have too much to do with blog marketing or the term marketing blog itself.
Some of these sites (many of them) have words like marketing, blog, marketing blog etc. in their URL so I guess it helps them to rank where they rank. There are a couple of marketingblog.TLD domain names and I guess it will be hard to beat them once I get into top 1000. Also, there are a couple of subdomain.wordpress.org sites that are in top 1000 but I think I can optimize my marketing blog better then they did theirs.
Where is my marketing blog in this story? It is still nowhere but I feel good about my marketing blog challenge since Googlebot comes over 10 times per day and I get reindexed almost every day. The weakest points of my marketing blog are surely links. I don’t have enough incoming links and I should really start working on link building if I want to succeed in my marketing blog challenge.
I think that this is it for today’s marketing blog challenge update.
Thank you for your time.
