Marketing challenge

 Last night I couldn’t sleep. Normally I don’t have problems with sleeping but when I get new ideas I forget about sleeping and focus on those ideas. Last night I had a couple of ideas that I would like to share with you since they are in direct relationship with this blog.

First idea that came to my mind is to give you a list of directories that you can use to submit your web sites to. More thoughts about directories changed my idea so instead of putting a list with couple of thousand directories I’m going to announce new directories that I find day by day. I’m sure that directory owners will be happy because they will get some free promotion and whoever reads my blog will use these mini-lists for their own promotion.

Second idea I had was to do some research on free pixel ad advertising. I came to this idea by reading forums and realizing that people ask too many questions about the subject. I will try to find as many free pixel ad sites I can and measure traffic coming from them.

Next idea is not really mine, my friend and coworker gave it to me today. He told me that it would be great if I could find more links on marketing and seo videos on YouTube and publish them here together with my comments. So I’m going to do that because it sounds good to me. Thanks for the idea; you have a free link when you build a site.

Before these ideas came to me I have decided to optimize, or at least try to optimize, my blog for a key phrase that returns around 160,000,000 results in Google. Why am I doing this? Traffic is not the answer. The real answer is that I want to do SEO for living, I like it and I would love to live a SEO life. So my idea is to get into top 100 for this phrase, if I do that then you can call me a SEO person, if not then I will stick with things that I know I’m good at. I’m not going to reveal all the things that I do to achieve my goal but 90% of it will be discovered in my weekly progress report. I will analyze my competition and work on improving my rankings so bookmark me, it will be fun watching me succeed or fail.

Marketing blog – monthly review

  Instead of doing my usual   marketing blog challenge   weekly update I have decided to review my first month with my marketing blog and analyze what was good and what wasn’t. So here we go. Another marketing blog challenge update

  Today I have checked position www.webinknow.com for the term   marketing blog   and David has moved down the to position number 443. I guess that has something to do with the fact that his post about my marketing blog challenge has moved down in his content. I don’t believe that more than 200 of our competitors have worked on their content and links to move David so many places down in SERPS. So today’s conclusion is that position of the content (maybe it is better to say position of keywords) definitely influences your position for high competitive terms and marketing blog sure falls under this category. Of course my  marketing blog  is nowhere near top 1000 but I’m working on it. I’ve decided to let it get older so that people link to me without me telling them to do so. I only hope that this will be the case in the next 6 months. I’m going to update my “Tools” section today so no more talk. Thank you for your time.

Marketing blog problem

Last few days I have a problem with writing content. I just can’t seem to find any good subjects to write about. Maybe it is the lack of free time that prevents me from writing or maybe I’m just too lazy these days, I’m not sure. If you think about it, writing about one single topic can be really hard. In my case writing only about blog marketing is really hard. I know that I write about marketing in general and search engine marketing, not only blog marketing but these subjects are related so I think about them as one. Optimizing your content for certain keywords (marketing blog in my case) is another thing that keeps you away from writing because you get the feeling that everything you write looks like something you have written before… I hope that I will find something good to write about tomorrow.
