Value of Page Rank – Part two

Yesterday we talked about PR in general, we defined it (thanks to Google) and we ended the article with me telling you that you will have something to read about today.

So here we are, today I am going to talk about how to recognize valuable link partners, how to buy links and does PR really matter to you.

Link partners

When I talk about link partners I mean those people that you exchange links with. You should always try to exchange links with web sites that are similar to yours (etc. same niche) but not with your direct competition. So what does it have to do with PR? As we said yesterday PR is a result of web sites “voting” for you site. More votes, more PR. Very simple, but not that simple. Since Google realized that webmasters could “cheat” by doing massive link exchange they don’t put too much weight on reciprocal links. I said, not much, I didn’t say any weight!

Buying links

There will be a time when you will realize that all of your efforts in marketing your site are just not showing any results. You will then consider buying links form other web sites. Doing that will surely help you but it can also make you broke very fast if you don’t know what are you doing. When buying links try to focus on the traffic that link brings, not the PR. PR is not that important for you unless you are planning to sell links too. This brings us to next header.

Does PR really matter?

If you just want your site to have big PR and don’t really know why then the answer is pretty obvious, PR won’t help you much. Having high PR puts you in a position where you can make some money by selling links but again, if you are not planning to sell links then you shouldn’t worry about PR at all. Some people believe (me included) that PR matters in your rankings, well, it probably does but there are other factors that are much more important so try to work more on them and forget PR for a few months.

Thank you for your time.
